25 March 2015: Simulation of Navier-Stokes flows with variable viscosity

These figures show the viscosity, the velocity streamlines, and the velocity vector directions arising from the numerical simulation, via an augmented mixed finite element method, of the Navier-Stokes equations with variable viscosity in the lid driven cavity. The main novelty is the utilization, as an auxiliary unknown, of a modified pseudostress tensor involving the diffusive and convective terms. Further details can be found in:
