To work on models in cardiology and epidemiology
The members of CI²MA , David Mora and Mauricio Sepúlveda, gathered in INRIA, Bordeaux, France, during June 25 - 30, invited by Professor Mostafa Bendahmane from University of Bordeaux, in order to conduct joint research on Numerical Analysis of models in cardiology and epidemiology. Professor Bendahmane is presently part of a 4 years project supported by INRIA, whose acronym is CARMEN and whose main research subject is precisley modelization and control in Biology. On this occasion, David Mora dealt with the analysis of virtual element methods for nonlinear parabolic problemas arising in cardiology and related areas, which is one of the goals of the Fondecyt project 1180913 that he is leading during 2018-2022. In turn, Professors Sepúlveda and Bendahmane, jointly with Veronica Anaya from Universidad del Bio-Bio, dealt with stochastic modelling of problems in epidemiology, which fits into the objectives of the Fondecyt project 1180868 directed by Mauricio Sepulveda. Additionally, Professor Ricardo Ruiz-Baier from Oxford University contributed with other possible areas of common interest in Biology, and gave the talk entitled: A three field fomulation for poroelasticity, in the regular seminar of CARMEN.
Veronica Anaya, David Mora and Ricardo Ruiz-Baier are all graduated from our Ph.D. Program in Mathematical Engineering, under the advising of CI²MA researchers, Mauricio Sepúlveda, Rodolfo Rodríguez and Raimund Bürger, respectively.
