Thesis Title | Optimization of Surface Intersection Algorithms
Thesis Summary:In general, there is no exact representation of the intersection of two surfaces, which can be decomposed into one or more components. Therefore, only the approximating methods are able to provide the calculation of the intersection. Since the intersection is approximate, it contains an error. The calculation of the intersection should be done as accurately as possible in border evaluation, one of the most important problems in solid modeling. Manufacturing applications make it necessary to specify an error tolerance so that the deviation of the approximation from the actual intersection is always maintained within the specified tolerance. Notwithstanding these needs, no methods capable of controlling are known.
