23 October 2019: CI²MA researchers participate in congress in Argentina
SUMA 2019 brought together researchers and students from Southern Cone countries.

A group of researchers from the Center for Research in Mathematical Engineering, CI2MA, moved to Mendoza, Argentina, to participate in the 2019 SUMA Congress, which was held at the University Center of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, UNCuyo. They were Jéssika Camaño (who presented the talk Analysis of a momentum conservative mixed- FEM for the stationary Navier-Stokes problem), Ricardo Oyarzúa (Analysis of a mixed-FEM for stationary incompressible magneto-hydrodynamics), Rodolfo Rodríguez (Acoustic vibrations with dissipation) and Manuel Solano (Hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin method applied to a plasma physics problem), in addition to the former members of the Center, Carlos García (An ultraweak formulation of the Timoshenko beam bending model and DPG approximation) and Felipe Lepe (Symmetric and non-symmetric discontinuous Galerkin methods for a pseudostress formulation of the Stokes spectral problem), who participated in the session of Numerical Analysis and Optimization, coordinated by Camaño.

It should be noted that the SUMA Congress is organized jointly by the Argentine Mathematical Union (UMA) and the Mathematical Society of Chile (SOMACHI). “In addition to listen high level talks in the session, the atmosphere generated by the participants was very pleasant”, Solano explained.
